Chapter 1 — The Message Brooke Was Never Supposed to See
Brooke was sitting quietly in the living room, scrolling through her phone while everyone else was busy with their own plans.
She wasn't looking for anything.
But then a notification appeared.
It was a photo posted by Mariah.
Brooke opened it.
Her smile immediately disappeared.
The picture showed Mariah standing beside a suitcase.
Underneath it was a simple caption:
“Philly, here I come! ✈️❤️”
Brooke stared at the screen.
“Philly?”
She read the caption again.
Then she noticed the person tagged in the post.
Isaiah.
Brooke's heart dropped.
“Wait… she's going to Philly to see Isaiah?”
She immediately sat up.
For weeks, Brooke had been trying to figure out where she stood with Isaiah. She had already been hurt by his decision to leave, and now seeing Mariah preparing to travel to the same city made everything feel even worse.
Brooke whispered:
“So she's going all the way to Philly for him?”
She put her phone down.
But the jealousy had already started taking over.
Chapter 2 — Brooke Starts Asking Questions
Brooke couldn't sit there quietly.
She walked into the kitchen where Bethany was preparing something.
“Mom, did you know Mariah is going to Philly?”
Bethany looked surprised.
“No. Why?”
Brooke showed her the post.
Bethany looked at it carefully.
“Maybe she's just going there for a trip.”
Brooke immediately shook her head.
“No. She tagged Isaiah.”
Bethany didn't want to jump to conclusions.
“Brooke, a tag doesn't automatically mean something romantic.”
“But why Philly?”
“Because Isaiah is there?”
Brooke crossed her arms.
“Exactly.”
Bethany could see how emotional Brooke was becoming.
“Have you talked to Isaiah?”
Brooke shook her head.
“He hasn't told me anything.”
Bethany sighed.
“Then don't assume the worst before you know what's happening.”
But Brooke wasn't convinced.
She grabbed her phone again.
“I need to call him.”
She dialed Isaiah's number.
It rang.
Once.
Twice.
Three times.
No answer.
Brooke's expression became even more upset.
Then her phone suddenly received a message.
It wasn't from Isaiah.
It was from Mariah.
“We need to talk.”
Brooke froze.
Chapter 3 — Mariah’s Unexpected Call
Brooke immediately called Mariah.
Mariah answered after several rings.
“What?”
Brooke didn't waste time.
“Are you going to Philly to see Isaiah?”
There was a long pause.
“Yes.”
Brooke's eyes widened.
“Why?”
Mariah hesitated.
“Because there's something I need to talk to him about.”
“About what?”
“I can't explain everything over the phone.”
Brooke became frustrated.
“You know how I feel about Isaiah.”
“I know.”
“Then why are you going?”
Mariah sighed.
“Brooke, you're assuming something that's not happening.”
Brooke wasn't listening.
“So you're telling me you're flying to Philly, you're meeting Isaiah, and there's nothing going on?”
“That's what I'm telling you.”
Brooke's voice became shaky.
“Then why didn't Isaiah tell me?”
Mariah didn't answer.
That silence made Brooke even more suspicious.
“Exactly,” Brooke said.
She ended the call.
Bethany walked toward her.
“What did she say?”
Brooke looked at her.
“She admitted she's going.”
Bethany asked:
“Did she say why?”
Brooke shook her head.
“No. And that's the problem.”
Chapter 4 — Brooke Confronts Isaiah
Brooke called Isaiah again.
This time, he answered.
“Hey, Brooke.”
“Is Mariah coming to Philly?”
Isaiah immediately became quiet.
“Who told you?”
“That's not an answer.”
“Brooke—”
“Is she coming or not?”
Isaiah sighed.
“Yes.”
Brooke's heart sank.
“When were you going to tell me?”
“It's complicated.”
Brooke laughed bitterly.
“Everything is always complicated with you.”
“Listen to me. Mariah isn't coming for what you think.”
“Then tell me what she's coming for!”
Isaiah hesitated.
“I promised her I wouldn't tell anyone.”
Brooke couldn't believe it.
“You promised HER?”
“Brooke, please.”
“No. I deserve an explanation.”
Isaiah said:
“I'll explain when she gets here.”
Brooke's eyes widened.
“When SHE gets there?”
Isaiah didn't respond.
Brooke ended the call.
She turned toward Bethany.
“He won't tell me anything.”
Bethany gently said:
“Then don't chase an answer you're not ready to hear.”
But Brooke had already made up her mind.
“If Mariah is going to Philly…”
She grabbed her bag.
“…then maybe I need to go too.”
Chapter 5 — Brooke Makes a Dangerous Decision
Bethany watched Brooke pack her things.
“Where are you going?”
“Philly.”
“Brooke, slow down.”
“No.”
She continued putting clothes into her bag.
“I've spent too much time wondering what Isaiah is doing.”
Bethany stepped closer.
“You're upset right now. Don't make a decision based only on jealousy.”
Brooke stopped.
“Maybe I'm jealous.”
She looked down.
“But that doesn't mean my feelings aren't real.”
Bethany softened.
“I know.”
Brooke wiped away a tear.
“I just don't want to find out from somebody else that Isaiah moved on.”
Bethany hugged her.
“Then talk to him honestly.”
Brooke nodded.
But before she could leave, her phone buzzed.
A new message appeared.
It was from an unknown number.
“If you go to Philly, you'll see something you were never supposed to see.”
Brooke stared at the screen.
Bethany noticed her expression.
“What happened?”
Brooke slowly showed her the message.
Bethany's face became serious.
“Don't go anywhere alone.”
Chapter 6 — The Secret Behind Mariah’s Trip
Meanwhile, Mariah arrived at the airport.
She held her suitcase tightly while waiting at the gate.
Her phone rang.
It was Isaiah.
“Did you get there?”
“I'm at the airport.”
“Good.”
Mariah lowered her voice.
“Are you sure Brooke doesn't know?”
Isaiah paused.
“She knows you're coming.”
Mariah's eyes widened.
“How?”
“She saw your post.”
Mariah sighed.
“This is going to be worse than I thought.”
Isaiah said:
“We have to tell her eventually.”
Mariah looked around.
“Are you sure this is the right thing?”
“Yes.”
“Even if Brooke gets angry?”
Isaiah hesitated.
“Yes.”
But neither of them realized someone nearby had overheard the conversation.
The person quietly took out their phone.
They sent a message to Brooke.
“Mariah isn't going to Philly for Isaiah alone. Ask her what she's carrying in that suitcase.”
Brooke read the message.
Her eyes widened.
“What is in her suitcase?”
Chapter 7 — Brooke Finds Another Clue
Brooke couldn't stop thinking about the message.
She called Mariah again.
No answer.
She tried Isaiah.
No answer.
Then Brooke opened social media.
Mariah had posted another picture from the airport.
Brooke zoomed in.
There was a small folder sitting on top of Mariah's suitcase.
Brooke recognized the color.
It looked exactly like the folder Isaiah had shown her before.
“What is that?”
Bethany looked over.
“What?”
“That folder.”
Brooke showed her the photo.
Bethany stared at it.
“Do you know what's inside?”
“No.”
Brooke suddenly remembered something.
Isaiah had once told her:
“When the time is right, I'll show you the rest.”
Brooke's jealousy slowly turned into suspicion.
Maybe this wasn't about another woman.
Maybe Mariah knew something.
Brooke immediately called Isaiah one more time.
He answered.
“Brooke?”
“What is Mariah bringing to Philly?”
Isaiah went silent.
Brooke knew immediately.
“You know.”
“Brooke…”
“You KNOW!”
Isaiah finally said:
“It's not what you think.”
Brooke's voice cracked.
“Then why does everybody know except me?”
Chapter 8 — The Truth Starts Coming Out
Isaiah finally admitted there was something important happening.
“Mariah is bringing documents.”
“Documents about what?”
“I can't say yet.”
Brooke became frustrated.
“Why not?”
“Because someone has been lying to us.”
Brooke paused.
“Who?”
“I don't know.”
“Then what does Mariah have?”
Isaiah sighed.
“Proof.”
Brooke's expression changed.
“Proof of what?”
“That some of the messages we've been receiving weren't from the people we thought they were.”
Brooke remembered all the anonymous messages.
The strange warnings.
The photos.
The mysterious envelopes.
Suddenly, everything seemed connected.
“So you're telling me Mariah isn't going to Philly because of you?”
“No.”
“Then why didn't you just tell me?”
“Because I wanted to protect you.”
Brooke shook her head.
“I don't need protection from the truth.”
Isaiah went silent.
Then he said:
“Brooke, there's something else.”
“What?”
“Mariah specifically asked me to keep one thing from you.”
Brooke's heart started racing.
“What thing?”
Before Isaiah could answer, the call suddenly disconnected.
Chapter 9 — Brooke Arrives at the Airport
Brooke stood at the airport with Bethany beside her.
She had made her decision.
She wasn't going to chase Isaiah.
She wasn't going to fight Mariah.
She simply wanted the truth.
Then she spotted Mariah.
Mariah was walking through the terminal with her suitcase.
Brooke immediately approached her.
“Mariah!”
Mariah stopped.
Her eyes widened.
“Brooke?”
“What's in the suitcase?”
Mariah looked at Bethany.
Then back at Brooke.
“You shouldn't be here.”
Brooke replied:
“Neither should I have been finding everything out through social media.”
Mariah sighed.
“It's not about Isaiah and me.”
“Then tell me what it's about.”
Mariah slowly opened the suitcase.
Inside was the folder.
Several photographs.
A phone.
And a sealed envelope.
Brooke stared at everything.
“What is this?”
Mariah picked up the envelope.
“This is why I'm going to Philly.”
Brooke reached for it.
But Mariah pulled it away.
“Not yet.”
Brooke became frustrated.
“Why?”
Mariah looked directly into her eyes.
“Because once you read this, everything you've believed about Isaiah may change.”
Brooke froze.
Chapter 10 — The Envelope That Changes Everything
Mariah finally handed Brooke the envelope.
Brooke stared at it.
Her hands were trembling.
Bethany stood beside her.
“Are you sure you want to open it?”
Brooke nodded.
Slowly, she broke the seal.
Inside was a photograph.
Brooke looked at it.
Her expression immediately changed.
It showed Isaiah talking to someone outside a building.
But that wasn't what shocked Brooke.
Standing beside Isaiah was someone Brooke recognized.
Someone from her own circle.
Brooke whispered:
“No…”
Mariah watched her carefully.
“I told you this wasn't about me and Isaiah.”
Brooke looked through the remaining documents.
There were messages.
Dates.
Photographs.
And a handwritten note.
Brooke read it silently.
Her face became pale.
Bethany asked:
“What does it say?”
Brooke looked up.
Her eyes were filled with tears.
“It says…”
She struggled to speak.
“…someone has been trying to keep Isaiah and me apart.”
Mariah nodded.
“And we think we know who.”
Brooke stared at her.
“Who?”
Mariah reached into the suitcase and pulled out one final photograph.
She placed it in Brooke's hand.
Brooke looked at it.
Then she gasped.
Because the person in the photograph wasn't a stranger.
It was someone Brooke trusted.
Someone who had been standing beside her through everything.
Brooke whispered:
“There's no way…”
Bethany looked at the photograph.
Her expression changed too.
Then Mariah's phone suddenly rang.
She looked at the screen.
Unknown number.
She answered.
A voice said:
“You weren't supposed to show Brooke that picture.”
Mariah froze.
Brooke stepped closer.
“Who is this?”
The caller replied:
“If Brooke wants the rest of the truth, tell her to come to Philly tonight.”
The call ended.
Brooke looked at Mariah.
Then at Bethany.
Her jealousy was gone.
Now she wanted answers.
And whatever was waiting for her in Philly could change everything.
