It was supposed to be an ordinary afternoon at Larry’s house.
Larry had just finished cleaning up the living room and was sitting quietly on the couch, scrolling through his phone. Everything seemed peaceful. Bethany was nowhere around, Brooke was busy with her own plans, and Destiny had gone out earlier.
Larry finally felt like he could breathe.
But that peaceful moment didn’t last long.
Suddenly, his phone rang.
Larry looked at the screen.
The number wasn’t saved.
At first, he ignored it.
The phone rang again.
Larry frowned and answered.
“Hello?”
There was silence on the other end.
“Hello? Who is this?”
A serious voice finally responded.
“Is this Larry?”
Larry immediately sat up.
“Yes. Who’s calling?”
“I’m calling because I have some very important information for you.”
Larry’s expression changed.
“What kind of information?”
The caller hesitated.
“Larry… I’m afraid I have some bad news.”
Larry froze.
“Bad news?”
“Yes.”
Larry stood up from the couch.
“What happened?”
The caller began explaining, but Larry could barely process the words. His face became pale as he listened.
“What? Are you serious?”
He slowly walked toward the window.
“No… that can’t be right.”
The caller continued.
Larry shook his head.
“Wait. I need you to repeat that.”
After hearing the information a second time, Larry dropped into a chair.
His hands were shaking.
He couldn't believe what he had just heard.
For several seconds, Larry didn't say anything.
Then he whispered,
“Why would this happen?”
He ended the call and stared at his phone.
Larry was completely overwhelmed.
He had dealt with arguments, relationship problems, family drama, and unexpected situations before.

A few minutes later, Brooke walked through the front door.
“Larry? You okay?”
Larry didn't answer.
Brooke noticed his expression.
“Dad?”
Larry finally looked up.
“Brooke… sit down.”
Brooke immediately became nervous.
“What happened?”
Larry took a deep breath.
“I just got a phone call.”
“What kind of phone call?”
Larry struggled to find the words.
“I just received some very bad news.”
Brooke's eyes widened.
“What happened?”
Before Larry could explain everything, another person walked into the house.
It was Destiny.
She immediately noticed that something was wrong.
“Why does everyone look so serious?”
Brooke looked at Larry.
“Dad just got some terrible news.”
Destiny slowly walked closer.
“What kind of news?”
Larry looked at both of them.
“I don't even know how we're supposed to handle this.”
The room became completely silent.
Then Larry finally revealed what the caller had told him.
Brooke covered her mouth in shock.
“WHAT?!”
Destiny stepped backward.
“No… no way.”
Larry nodded slowly.
“I wish it wasn't true.”
Brooke started asking questions, but Larry didn't have all the answers.
And then something even more shocking happened.
Larry's phone rang again.
Everyone froze.
The same unknown number was calling.
Larry stared at the screen.
Brooke whispered,
“Don't answer it.”
Larry hesitated.
But eventually, he picked up.
“Hello?”
The caller said,
“Larry, there's something else you need to know.”
Larry's eyes widened.
“What now?”
The caller revealed another piece of information that made Larry completely speechless.
Larry slowly lowered the phone.
Brooke immediately asked,
“What did they say?”
Larry looked at her.
“I don't know what to do.”
Destiny stepped forward.
“Dad, tell us!”
Larry took a deep breath.
“This situation is much bigger than I thought.”
Suddenly, a car pulled into the driveway.
Everyone looked toward the window.
Someone was getting out.
Brooke recognized the person immediately.
“Wait… why are THEY here?”
Larry looked outside.
His face changed instantly.
The person walked toward the front door and knocked.
Knock.

Nobody moved.
Then came another knock.
Larry slowly walked toward the door.
Brooke grabbed his arm.
“Dad, maybe you shouldn't open it.”
Larry looked at her.
“I need to know why they're here.”
He opened the door.
The visitor stood there with a serious expression.
“Larry, we need to talk.”
Larry stared at them.
“About what?”
The person looked at Brooke and Destiny before turning back toward Larry.
“About the bad news you just received.”
Everyone froze.
Larry's heart sank.
“You knew?”
The person nodded.
“And there's something you haven't been told yet.”
Larry stepped forward.
“What?”
The visitor lowered their voice.
“The truth is much worse than you think.”
Larry's eyes widened.
Brooke and Destiny looked at each other in complete shock.
Nobody knew what to say.
Larry realized that the phone call wasn't the end of the story.
