"About what? Another lecture?"

"I just want us to stop arguing."

Brooke stood up with an annoyed expression.

"You always act like you're the victim."

Larry walked in and froze.

"What happened here?"

Larry looked from one to the other and realized he had arrived just after the slap.

"Tell me the truth," he said firmly.

Brooke spoke first.

"She hit me."

Larry turned to Bethany.

Bethany lowered her eyes.

"I... I lost my temper."

Larry sighed deeply.

"No matter how angry you were, this isn't how we solve problems."

The tension in the room remained heavy.

Brooke, still upset, grabbed her bag.

"I need some space."

She walked out of the house without saying another word.

Larry nodded.

Hours later, after everyone had calmed down, Bethany reached out to Brooke and apologized for her actions. Brooke accepted the apology for the sake of moving forward, though she admitted rebuilding trust would take time.
