The afternoon started with a heated argument outside the house. Bethany was already frustrated after a stressful morning, and the tension inside the family had been building for days. Larry tried to keep everyone calm, but emotions were running high.

Little Steevie walked outside, confused by the loud voices. He asked an innocent question, not realizing how upset everyone already was. Bethany suddenly turned toward him, her face filled with anger, and stepped forward. Seeing this, Larry immediately moved between them, raising his hand to stop the confrontation before it escalated.

"Bethany, stop!" Larry shouted. "He's just a child. Don't take your anger out on him."

Steevie froze, scared by the shouting. Tears filled his eyes as he stepped backward. The neighbors who had heard the commotion came outside, watching the scene unfold from their driveways.

Bethany, still upset, continued yelling. She blamed everyone for the problems in the family and insisted that no one respected her anymore. Larry remained calm despite the tension.

"You can be angry," Larry said firmly, "but you cannot scare a child. This has to end."

His words made everyone fall silent for a moment.

Steevie ran over and stood behind Larry, holding onto his arm. Larry gently reassured him that everything would be okay and encouraged him to go inside the house where he would be safe.

Seeing Steevie's frightened expression, Bethany's anger slowly faded. She realized that the situation had gone much further than she intended. She looked around and noticed the worried faces of the neighbors and the disappointed expression on Larry's face.

For several seconds, no one spoke.

Finally, Bethany lowered her hand and took a deep breath. "I... I shouldn't have lost my temper," she admitted quietly.

Larry nodded. "We all get angry sometimes. But children should never be caught in the middle of adult arguments."

Steevie slowly peeked out from behind Larry, still nervous but beginning to calm down.

The neighbors quietly returned to their homes as the shouting stopped. The tense moment ended without anyone being hurt, and the family agreed to continue the conversation later after everyone had calmed down.
