After weeks of emotional chaos, Brooke sat silently on the couch staring at her packed overnight bag near the stairs.

She needed space.

Real space.

Away from the tension.
Away from the fighting.
Away from constantly feeling emotionally trapped.

Then suddenly—

DING DONG.

Bethany looked up immediately from the kitchen.

Larry frowned from the dining room.

Brooke already knew who it was.

And unfortunately…

So did Bethany.

Larry opened the front door slowly.

Sharra stood outside wearing a leather jacket and sunglasses despite the cloudy weather.

“I’m here for Brooke.”

Larry finally forced himself between them.

“I think I was trying to stop Brooke from leaving because I feel like I’m losing everybody lately.”

That confession completely changed the atmosphere.
