Chapter 1 — The Morning After Vegas
Sunlight pushed softly through the curtains of Larry’s hotel suite in Las Vegas.
For the first time in weeks…
Everything felt quiet.
Too quiet.
Larry slowly opened his eyes and groaned slightly from exhaustion.
The previous night had been chaos.
Business meetings.
Arguments.
Emotional breakdowns.
And somewhere between all of it, he had fallen asleep fully dressed on the couch.
He rubbed his face tiredly and reached for his phone.
Seven missed calls from Bethany.
His stomach tightened immediately.
Before he could even process it—
The hotel room door clicked open.
Jade walked inside carrying coffee cups and a small paper bag of breakfast.
Larry blinked in confusion.
“…Jade?”
Jade smiled softly.
“You left your door unlocked.”
Larry sat up slowly.
Jade had been part of his Vegas business team for months.
Smart.
Calm.
Dangerously observant.
And lately…
A little too emotionally available during his problems with Bethany.
Larry took the coffee awkwardly.
“You didn’t have to do this.”
Jade shrugged casually.
“You looked like your life was falling apart yesterday.”
Larry laughed weakly.
“That obvious?”
Jade sat beside him on the couch.
“Only to people paying attention.”
And unfortunately…
That sentence lingered longer than it should have.
Chapter 2 — Jade Says Too Much
Larry sipped his coffee quietly while Vegas traffic buzzed outside below them.
Jade watched him carefully.
“You still love her.”
Larry looked down instantly.
“Yeah.”
Not hesitation.
Not confusion.
Just honesty.
Jade nodded slowly.
“But you’re unhappy.”
Larry frowned slightly.
“It’s complicated.”
Jade gave a soft laugh.
“People always say that when they’re emotionally exhausted.”
Larry leaned back tiredly.
“You sound like a therapist.”
“No,” Jade whispered.
“I just notice things.”
The room became strangely intimate after that.
Too intimate.
Larry stood up quickly trying to create distance.
“I should call Bethany.”
But Jade suddenly grabbed his wrist gently.

Larry looked back.
And then she crossed the line.

“Jade—what are you doing?!”

Someone standing partially outside the suite door had already seen everything.

Chapter 3 — Bethany Drops Everything
The coffee cup slipped from Bethany’s hands and shattered across the hallway floor.
Larry’s face lost all color instantly.
“Bethany—”
She backed away immediately like she’d been physically hit.
Jade stood frozen beside the couch realizing the disaster unfolding.
Bethany stared at Larry with pure heartbreak in her eyes.
Not anger.
Not screaming.
Worse.
Disbelief.
“I can’t believe you.”
Larry rushed toward her desperately.
“No, listen to me—it wasn’t—”
But Bethany shook her head rapidly while tears filled her eyes.
“I saw enough.”
Jade immediately spoke up.
“It was my fault.”
Bethany laughed painfully.
“That’s supposed to help?”
Larry reached for Bethany’s hand.
She pulled away instantly.
And somehow that hurt him more than yelling would’ve.
“Bethany please.”
Her voice cracked badly now.
“You kept warning me I was imagining things.”
Larry froze.
Because deep down…
He knew exactly what she meant.
All the emotional closeness.
The blurred boundaries.
The constant reassurance that nothing inappropriate was happening.
And now this.
Bethany looked completely shattered.
“I feel stupid.”
Then she turned and walked away.
Chapter 4 — Larry Finally Snaps
Larry immediately turned toward Jade after Bethany disappeared down the hallway.
“What the hell was that?!”
Jade looked emotional too now.
“I’m sorry.”
“You kissed me!”
“I know!”
Larry ran both hands through his hair aggressively.
“You knew things were already bad between me and Bethany!”
Jade’s eyes watered instantly.
“Because you talk about her like you’re drowning!”
“That doesn’t mean I wanted THIS!”
Silence filled the suite.
Then Jade whispered something that made everything worse.
“You didn’t pull away immediately.”
Larry froze.
Because unfortunately…
There was half a second where shock delayed him.
And now that moment would haunt him forever.
Jade looked down sadly.
“I thought maybe part of you wanted someone easier.”
That sentence hit hard.
Because emotionally?
Larry had been exhausted.
But exhaustion wasn’t love.
And now everything was destroyed anyway.
Chapter 5 — Bethany Breaks Down
Bethany locked herself inside the hotel bathroom down the hall while sobs violently shook her body.
She couldn’t breathe properly.
Couldn’t think clearly.
All she could see was the kiss replaying endlessly in her mind.

Larry frozen beside her.

“It meant nothing.”
Bethany laughed painfully through tears.
“That’s somehow worse.”
Larry leaned against the door helplessly.

He understood exactly what she meant.
Meaningless betrayal still destroys trust.
And now he had no idea how to fix this.
