The front door slammed open just after midnight.

Larry and Jade stepped inside the house carrying luggage from their Vegas trip, laughing quietly together after the long flight home. Jade still had her sunglasses resting on her head while Larry rolled the suitcase across the floor.

But the second they looked up…

Everything changed.

Bethany was standing in the middle of the living room waiting for them.

The entire house was dark except for one lamp glowing beside the couch. Her eyes were red like she had been crying for hours. In her hand was Larry’s spare house key.

Jade immediately stopped smiling.

“Bethany…” Larry said nervously.

Bethany slowly looked between the two of them—the matching Vegas hoodies, the hotel tags on their bags, and the way Jade stood close beside Larry.

That was all she needed to see.

“Oh… so y’all really came back together?” Bethany asked coldly.
