The music was loud, the lights were flashing, and the entire rooftop party was packed with people laughing, dancing, and recording videos for social media.
Larry stood near the VIP section smiling while talking to friends. After weeks of drama, arguments, and emotional fights, this was supposed to be his fresh start. Everyone around him could tell he was finally trying to move on.
Beside him, Jade laughed while holding a drink. Brooke was live-streaming the party on Instagram, and Isaiah kept hyping the DJ up as smoke machines filled the air. The whole vibe felt perfect.
“Tonight is about peace,” Larry said loudly.
“No drama… no stress… just good energy!”
Everyone cheered.
But deep down, Larry still looked distracted.
Every time the elevator doors opened, his eyes quickly glanced over… almost like he was expecting someone.
Or afraid someone might show up.
Meanwhile, on the other side of the city, Bethany sat alone in her car outside the party venue gripping the steering wheel tightly.
She had seen Brooke’s livestream.
She saw Larry smiling.
Laughing.
Enjoying himself like their marriage never mattered.
Tears rolled down her face as she whispered,
“So this is really how easy it was for him to forget me…”
In the passenger seat was a small gift bag.
Inside it?
Larry’s wedding ring.
Bethany took a deep breath, wiped her tears, and stepped out of the car.
Back upstairs, the DJ suddenly switched the music to a slower vibe as everyone danced and recorded videos. Jade leaned closer to Larry smiling.
“You finally look happy again,” she whispered.
Larry forced a smile… but before he could answer—
DING.
The elevator doors opened.
And the entire party went silent.
One by one, people turned around.
Brooke’s jaw dropped.
Isaiah stopped dancing.
Even the DJ slowly lowered the music.
Standing at the entrance in a black dress with tear-filled eyes was Bethany.
The same woman Larry claimed he was completely done with.
The room froze.
“OH MY GOD…” Brooke whispered.
Bethany slowly walked into the party while everyone stared at her in complete shock. Some people grabbed their phones immediately, sensing drama was about to explode.
Larry couldn’t even move.
“Bethany…?” he said softly.
Jade instantly stepped back, feeling the tension in the air.
Bethany looked around at the decorations, the drinks, the smiling faces… then back at Larry.
“So this what you do now?” she asked painfully.
“You celebrate while your marriage falls apart?”
Nobody said a word.
Larry sighed. “Bethany, this not the place for this.”
“No,” Bethany replied while shaking her head.
“You made this everybody’s business the moment you stopped fighting for us.”
The crowd looked completely uncomfortable.
Some guests quietly walked away while others stayed close just to hear the drama.
Larry tried staying calm.
“You shouldn’t have come here.”
Bethany laughed emotionally.
“I shouldn’t have come?” she said.
“Larry… I spent years loving you. Supporting you. Defending you. And now you acting like I’m just some random woman interrupting your party?”
Jade crossed her arms but remained silent.
Then Bethany reached into her purse.
Everyone leaned forward nervously.
She pulled out Larry’s wedding ring.
The entire rooftop exploded with reactions.
“NAHHHHH…” Isaiah whispered.
Larry’s face instantly changed.
Bethany slowly walked closer and placed the ring in Larry’s hand.
“I came to give this back,” she said while crying.
“Because clearly… it doesn’t mean anything to you anymore.”
For the first time all night, Larry looked completely broken.
The music was off.
Nobody moved.
Even Jade looked emotional watching the moment unfold.
Larry stared at the ring in silence before finally speaking.
“You think this easy for me?” he asked quietly.
“You think I wanted all this to happen?”
Bethany wiped her tears.
“Then why did you stop choosing me?”
That question hit Larry hard.
The entire rooftop stayed silent waiting for his answer.
But before Larry could speak—
Another voice interrupted from the back.
“Because he been hiding the truth from everybody.”
Everyone turned around in shock.
And standing near the elevator was Sharra… holding a folder in her hand.
Larry’s face went pale instantly.
Bethany looked confused.
“What truth?” she asked slowly.
Sharra stepped forward.
“The truth about why Larry REALLY ended this marriage…”
TO BE CONTINUED…
