The evening air around Larry’s house felt unusually heavy. The sun was setting slowly, painting the sky orange and purple, but inside the house the atmosphere was far from peaceful. Everyone could feel that something big was about to happen.

Larry stood in the living room, his arms crossed, staring at the floor as if trying to gather the courage to say something important. Brooke sat quietly on the couch, nervously twisting her fingers. Destiny leaned against the wall, watching the tension grow.

Then the front door suddenly burst open.

Sharra stormed inside.

Her face was filled with anger and determination. She looked directly at Bethany, who was standing near the staircase with a suitcase beside her.

“Bethany, you are NOT going to Miami!” Sharra shouted.

The room instantly went silent.

Bethany slowly turned toward her, raising an eyebrow. “Excuse me? Who do you think you are to tell me where I can go?”

Sharra stepped closer, her voice shaking with frustration. “I’m the one trying to protect this family from you!”

Destiny gasped quietly while Brooke looked between them, clearly terrified of what might happen next.

Larry finally lifted his head.

“Enough,” he said quietly.

But no one listened.

Sharra pointed directly at Bethany. “You’ve caused nothing but chaos since the day you walked into this house! Miami is Destiny’s birthday trip. She doesn’t need you there ruining everything!”

Bethany laughed bitterly.

“Oh please, Sharra. You’re acting like some kind of hero. But we all know you just want control.”

The argument grew louder.

“You’re manipulating everyone!” Sharra yelled.

“And you’re obsessed with interfering!” Bethany fired back.

Suddenly Sharra reached down and grabbed Bethany’s suitcase.

“You’re not going anywhere.”

Bethany’s eyes widened in shock.

“Put that down,” she warned.

But Sharra dragged the suitcase toward the door.

“I mean it, Bethany. I won’t let you destroy this trip!”

At that moment, Larry stepped forward.

“SHARRA. STOP.”

His voice was louder than anyone had ever heard before.

Everyone froze.

Larry walked between them and gently took the suitcase from Sharra’s hands.

Then he looked straight at her.

“For months… you’ve been making decisions for everyone. For me. For Brooke. For Destiny.”

Sharra blinked, clearly surprised by his tone.

“But this time,” Larry continued firmly, “the decision is mine.”

The room went completely silent.

Larry turned toward Bethany.

“If Bethany wants to go to Miami… she’s going.”

Sharra looked like she had just been slapped.

“You’re choosing HER over your own family?” she asked, her voice breaking.

Larry shook his head slowly.

“No. I’m choosing peace.”

Destiny quietly stepped forward.

“Dad… are you sure about this?”

Larry nodded.

“We can’t keep fighting like this. Miami is supposed to be about celebrating you.”

Bethany picked up her suitcase again, but this time she didn’t look angry. Instead, she looked… victorious.

Sharra clenched her fists.

“You have no idea what you’re doing,” she whispered.

Then she turned and walked toward the door.

But just before leaving, she stopped.

She slowly pulled a small envelope from her purse and placed it on the table.

Larry frowned.

“What’s that?”

Sharra looked back one last time.

“If Bethany goes to Miami… open that.”

Then she walked out.

The door slammed shut.

Everyone stared at the envelope.

A heavy silence filled the room.

Brooke finally whispered, “Dad… should we open it?”

Larry slowly picked it up.

His hands were shaking.

Because written on the front of the envelope were five terrifying words:

“The Truth About Bethany Inside.”

And suddenly… Larry realized Sharra might not have been trying to stop the trip.
