Bethany was sitting on the couch, scrolling through her phone, trying to distract herself from the tension that had been building in the family for weeks. Ever since the arguments between her and Larry started getting worse, nothing in the house felt normal anymore.

Destiny had been staying with Bethany for a few days, trying to avoid the constant drama at Sharra’s house. Bethany believed it was the best place for the girl to calm down and focus on school. Brooke was also around most of the time, though she usually stayed quiet and avoided the fights.

Bethany sighed and looked around the living room. Something felt off. The house was too quiet.

“Destiny?” she called out.

No answer.

She stood up and checked the kitchen.

“Brooke?” she called again.

“You forced her to go back to Sharra’s house?!”

“I didn’t force her,” Larry replied, though his tone suggested otherwise. “I made the decision as her father.”

“You had NO right to take them without telling me!”

“I absolutely had the right,” Larry shot back. “And Brooke came with us too.”

“Yes.”

“Did Destiny even WANT to go?!”

“Oh my God…” she whispered in disbelief. “You forced her.”

“She needs structure,” Larry said firmly. “And Sharra’s house is the best place for that right now.”
