When Jessie Learns Bethany Was Injured in the Fight with Lynette ๐ข๐, He Rushes to Her Home ๐♂️๐ — and What Bethany Says to Him Changes Everything ๐ฌ
Jessie was halfway through his shift when his phone vibrated.
One message.
Then another.
Then a picture.
It was Bethany.
Her face was bruised. A dark mark ran along her cheek. Her eyes—tired, hollow, but still trying to be strong.
Jessie’s chest tightened.
“What happened?” he typed, hands shaking.
The reply came seconds later.
“Lynette and I… it got physical. I’m okay. Please don’t make this a big deal.”
But it already was.
Jessie didn’t clock out.
Didn’t explain.
Didn’t hesitate.
He grabbed his keys and ran.
The drive to Bethany’s house felt endless. Every red light made his anger grow. Every mile reminded him how many times Bethany had been hurt—and how often she had been left alone to deal with it.
When he reached her house, the lights were dim.
He knocked once.
Then again.
The door opened slowly.
Bethany stood there in an oversized sweater, hair pulled back, trying to smile like nothing was wrong.
Jessie froze.
“Oh my God…” he whispered.
He stepped inside, gently closing the door behind him, eyes scanning her face.
“Who did this to you?” His voice was low, controlled—but burning.
She turned away.
“It doesn’t matter.”
“It matters to me,” Jessie snapped, then softened instantly. “Bethany… you’re hurt.”
She finally looked at him, and for the first time since the fight, her eyes filled with tears.
“I’m just… tired, Jessie.”
He sat her down carefully on the couch, as if she might break.
“Why didn’t you call me?” he asked quietly.
She swallowed.
“Because I’m tired of being saved.”
Those words stopped him.
Jessie frowned. “What does that mean?”
Bethany took a deep breath.
“I’ve spent my whole life waiting for someone to choose me when it mattered. Larry didn’t. His family didn’t. Even when Lynette crossed lines, everyone told me to stay quiet.”
Jessie clenched his jaw.
“And now?” he asked.
“Now I don’t want someone to rush in angry,” she said softly.
“I want someone who stays.”
Silence filled the room.
Jessie stood up slowly, walked in front of her, and knelt so they were eye to eye.
“I didn’t come here to fight anyone,” he said.
“I came because the thought of you hurting alone… broke me.”
Bethany’s voice shook.
“Jessie… I’m not the woman who needs fixing.”
He nodded.
“I know. You’re the woman worth standing beside.”
That was it.
The wall she had built finally cracked.
Tears spilled down her cheeks as she covered her face. Jessie didn’t rush her. He didn’t interrupt. He just held her—steady, patient, present.
After a long moment, she whispered something that changed everything.
“I filed for divorce.”
Jessie’s breath caught.
“I didn’t come here to hear that,” he admitted. “But I’m glad you trusted me with it.”
She looked up at him.
“I’m not asking you to save me,” she said.
“I’m asking… if you’re willing to walk with me while I save myself.”
Jessie smiled through his own tears.
“I’ve been walking toward you for a long time.”
Outside, the night was quiet.
Inside, something new began—not built on chaos, but on truth.
And for the first time since the fight…
Bethany didn’t feel alone. ๐➡️❤️
