The hospital corridor was unnaturally quiet, broken only by the rhythmic beeping of machines echoing from the ICU. The smell of disinfectant hung heavy in the air as Bethany rushed down the hallway, her heart pounding with fear and guilt.

Jaden’s wife was in critical condition.

Bethany had just found out minutes ago—and without wasting a second, she grabbed her coat and ran to the hospital. Whatever had happened between them in the past no longer mattered. A woman was fighting for her life, and Bethany needed to see her, to pray for her, to say she was sorry.

But the moment Bethany reached the ICU entrance…
