Shayla stood outside Anthony’s apartment building, holding Baby Kai close to her chest. The cold wind brushed against her trembling hands. She had lost her house… lost her pride… and nearly lost the most important people in her life. Tonight, she was determined to fix at least one thing—her relationship with Anthony and Kai.

She took a deep breath and knocked.

🚪 Knock. Knock.

Anthony opened the door slowly. His face looked tired—both from work and from the emotional toll Shayla had caused in the past. The silence between them felt heavier than any fight they ever had.

“Shayla?” he said, confused and cautious. “Why are you here?”

Her eyes filled instantly with tears.

“I… I came to apologize,” she whispered. “For everything. For keeping Kai away from you. For not trusting you. For pushing you out of his life. I was wrong, Anthony… so wrong.”

Anthony’s gaze shifted to baby Kai, who was sleeping peacefully in her arms. His heart tightened. He had missed so many moments — the first smile, the first laugh. Memories he would never get back.

“Come inside,” he said softly.

As she walked in, the warmth of the apartment made her tears flow even more. Anthony gently took Kai from her arms and held the baby as though he would never let go again.

Shayla covered her mouth, crying harder.
“I’ll do better. I promise. I won’t run again.”

Anthony looked into her eyes — searching for sincerity — and he saw it clearly.

“I won’t let Kai suffer because of our mistakes,” he said. “You both can stay. But things have to be different this time. No more secrets. No more pride.”

Shayla nodded gratefully, wiping her tears.

Anthony placed a comforting hand on her shoulder.
“We’ll figure this out… together.”
