Cocoa Confronts Anthony: Why Did You Go Back to Amber?😱
Anthony was sitting alone in the dimly lit kitchen, his elbows on the table, his face buried in his hands. The apartment was quiet—too quiet. Kai was at a friend’s house for the night, Amber hadn’t spoken to him since their argument, and the weight of secrets, betrayals, and DNA tests pressed heavily on his chest.
That’s when the knock came at the door.
Anthony looked up, expecting maybe Amber, maybe even Arby trying to stir more trouble. But when he opened the door, it was Cocoa—his cousin, the one person who had been with him through every twist and turn of this nightmare.
She didn’t smile. She didn’t even greet him. She just walked straight in, her eyes sharp, her body tense.
“Anthony,” she said firmly, turning to face him. “We need to talk.”
Anthony rubbed the back of his neck, exhausted. “Cocoa, it’s late. Can this wait until tomorrow?”
“No,” she shot back. “It can’t. Because I need to understand something. Why… why did you go back to Amber?”
Her words hit like a slap. Anthony froze, his jaw tightening.
“What are you talking about?” he asked carefully.
Cocoa’s eyes glistened—not with anger, but with hurt. “You know exactly what I mean. After everything Amber’s done—doubting you, accusing you, storming out when you needed her most—you still went back to her. Why? What hold does she have over you, Anthony?”
Anthony’s chest tightened. He looked away, staring at the shadows on the wall. “It’s not that simple.”
“Yes, it is,” Cocoa pressed, stepping closer. “I watched you break yourself in half to protect Kai. I watched Amber walk away when you were drowning. And I—I stayed. I was there, Anthony. I never left your side. But when she comes back, with her doubts and her ultimatums, you just… run to her.”
Her voice cracked. “Why isn’t my loyalty enough for you?”
Anthony finally met her gaze, his eyes heavy with guilt. “Cocoa…” he whispered. “You’ve always been there. You’ve been my anchor when everything else fell apart. But Amber—she’s… she’s different. She makes me believe there’s still a chance for a family. For stability. Kai loves her, and I—” He stopped himself, his throat tight.
Cocoa’s hands balled into fists. “So that’s it? Stability? You’d rather cling to a woman who doesn’t even trust you than see what’s right in front of you?”
Anthony stood, frustration bubbling in his chest. “Don’t twist this, Cocoa. I never asked for your loyalty. I never asked you to stay. I’m grateful for everything you’ve done, but Amber—” His voice faltered. “Amber is the mother figure Kai looks up to. Without her, I’m just a broken man raising a boy in a world that wants to tear him apart.”
Cocoa’s tears finally fell. “And what about me? Don’t you see how hard it’s been, watching you break, watching you fight, and knowing I could be more than just your shadow? I love you, Anthony. I’ve loved you longer than I can admit. And every time you choose Amber, you’re breaking me too.”
The room went silent. The weight of Cocoa’s confession lingered in the air like smoke.
Anthony’s heart ached. He reached out, but Cocoa stepped back, shaking her head. “Don’t. Don’t touch me unless you mean it.”
Anthony’s lips trembled. “Cocoa… I can’t give you what you want. Not now. My heart—it still belongs to Amber. I’m sorry.”
Cocoa laughed bitterly through her tears. “Sorry doesn’t fix anything. Sorry doesn’t heal. All it does is prove what I’ve always feared—that no matter how much I stand by you, no matter how much I fight for you, I’ll never be the one you choose.”
She turned toward the door, her shoulders trembling. Before leaving, she whispered, “One day, Anthony, you’re going to realize loyalty means more than love. And when you do… it’ll be too late.”
The door clicked shut behind her, leaving Anthony alone again—alone with his guilt, his confusion, and the echo of Cocoa’s words.
And what happened next—when Amber discovered Cocoa’s feelings—would shock everyone.
