Anthony Shocked when Arby asked him for Kai Custody😱

Anthony had never expected his quiet evening to take such a shocking turn. He was sitting on the worn-out couch in his small apartment, the faint hum of the city outside filling the silence. His son, Kai, was asleep in the other room. The boy had always been his anchor, the reason Anthony kept going when life threw its harshest storms at him. Raising Kai alone hadn’t been easy, but Anthony felt proud every time he saw his son smile.

That night, his phone buzzed. It was a name he hadn’t seen in months: Arby. Once a close friend, Arby had drifted out of Anthony’s life after a string of arguments, lies, and betrayals. They hadn’t spoken face-to-face in ages, and when Anthony opened the door a few minutes later, he didn’t expect the sight that greeted him.

Arby stood there, his posture rigid, eyes carrying a strange mix of determination and desperation.

“Anthony,” he said, voice tight. “We need to talk. It’s about Kai.”

Anthony frowned, instantly alert. “What about Kai? He’s sleeping. Keep your voice down.”

Arby stepped inside without waiting for permission, pacing the small living room like he was gathering courage. “I’ve been thinking about this for a long time. I want custody of Kai.”

Anthony froze. The words didn’t register at first. When they finally sank in, his chest tightened. His voice came out sharp, almost breaking. “What did you just say?”

“You heard me.” Arby stopped pacing and turned to face him. “I want custody of Kai. I can give him a better life. I have the money, the stability, the opportunities you can’t provide.”

The room seemed to shrink around Anthony. His hands curled into fists at his sides. “You think you can just waltz back into our lives and take my son? After everything? After disappearing when I needed you most?”

Arby’s jaw clenched, but his eyes didn’t waver. “You don’t understand. Kai is my son too.”

The words slammed into Anthony like a hammer. His stomach dropped, and he stumbled back a step. His voice cracked when he spoke. “What are you talking about? That’s impossible.”

Arby’s face twisted with a mixture of guilt and defiance. “It’s the truth. You’ve been raising him as your own, but you deserve to know. Years ago, before everything fell apart, Kai’s mother and I—”

“Don’t you dare,” Anthony snapped, his voice low and trembling with fury. “Don’t you dare finish that sentence.”

Silence thickened the air. For the first time, Anthony felt his whole world shaking under his feet. The son he had held in his arms, the boy who called him “Dad” every morning and trusted him with innocent eyes—was he really his? Or had this man standing in front of him been hiding a truth that could rip everything away?

Arby softened his tone, but his words cut just as deep. “I kept it quiet because I didn’t want to destroy your bond with him. But now, I want what’s right. Kai deserves to know the truth. He deserves a chance with his real father.”

Anthony’s heart pounded in his ears. His throat burned as he tried to find the right words. “You think biology makes you a father? You weren’t there when he cried in the middle of the night. You weren’t there when he took his first steps, when he got sick, when he needed comfort. You weren’t there for him—ever. I was.”

Arby’s eyes flickered, but his resolve remained. “Still, he’s mine. And I’ll fight for him.”

Anthony shook his head, his voice breaking into a whisper. “Over my dead body.”

The two men stood in the living room, the air heavy with tension, shadows stretching long across the walls. Anthony felt his world collapsing, but one thing was crystal clear in his heart: he would never let anyone take Kai away.

Outside, the city kept buzzing, unaware of the storm brewing inside that tiny apartment. And as Kai slept peacefully in his room, a battle for his future had just begun.
