Brittany tells Dalen I want to go Jamaica with you on vacation

“Take Me to the Island”

The sun was setting over the city skyline, washing the living room in warm gold. Brittany sat curled up on the corner of the couch, her feet tucked beneath her, absentmindedly flipping through a travel magazine. The pages were filled with turquoise waters, palm trees, and wide-brimmed hats. It was the kind of glossy escape she hadn’t let herself dream about in months.

Across from her, Dalen was at the kitchen counter, casually scrolling on his tablet, sipping a cold drink. The music playing softly in the background was a lo-fi reggae playlist Brittany had turned on earlier — purely by accident. Or maybe it was fate.

She watched him for a moment, admiring the ease in his smile, the way he always made any space feel safe. For weeks now, they’d been dancing around something unspoken. Close. Comfortable. But never quite crossing the line into something more.

Until now.

“Hey,” she said suddenly, closing the magazine.

Dalen looked up. “Yeah?”

She hesitated for a second, fingers tracing the edges of the magazine page, then met his eyes.

“I want to go to Jamaica.”

He blinked. “Like... someday? Or you mean—?”

“With you,” Brittany interrupted gently. “Not someday. Soon. Like... maybe next week.”

Dalen raised an eyebrow, surprised, but not at all upset. “Whoa. Where did that come from?”

Brittany stood and walked over, the magazine now in her hand. She placed it on the counter in front of him, flipped to the page she’d been staring at. It showed a couple walking hand-in-hand along a beach at sunset, wind in their hair, the ocean behind them glowing orange and blue.

“I’m tired,” she said honestly. “Of the city. Of work. Of pretending things are fine when they’re not. I haven’t had real joy in... I don’t know how long.”

She looked at him.

“But when I’m with you, I feel like I can breathe again.”

Dalen was silent for a second, touched but unsure what to say.

“Jamaica?” he repeated, trying to smile through the surprise. “That’s a bold first vacation.”

Brittany laughed. “We’ve already done everything but fly across the ocean together. Why not Jamaica? Why not now?”

“You want me... to take you to paradise?” he said slowly, leaning toward her.

“No,” she said, voice soft. “I want us to go together. Not as friends who joke and walk each other home and talk about everything except what’s really on our hearts. I want this to mean something. I want it to be real.”

A Beat of Truth

Dalen stared at her. For a long, honest moment, the air between them shifted.

He saw it now — how long Brittany had been waiting to say this. How much courage it took to admit that she wanted him. That the laughter and late nights and shared silences weren’t just moments — they were the beginning of something.

“If we go,” he said carefully, “you know what that means, right?”

She nodded.

“We stop pretending this is just a friendship.”

“Exactly.”

He exhaled, then smiled — a smile she hadn't seen before. One that didn’t hide behind sarcasm or casual charm.

“Alright,” he said finally. “Jamaica it is.”

“Seriously?”

“I’ve got time off saved. And I can’t think of anyone else I’d want to sit on a beach with more.”

Later That Night

They sat on the couch, laptop open between them, browsing resorts. Every time Brittany found one with an infinity pool or beachfront suite, she gasped with excitement.

Dalen just watched her, his heart slowly unraveling.

It wasn’t about the destination anymore.
It was about the decision.
The leap.
The beginning of them.

And So It Begins...

As they clicked “Book Now,” Brittany looked over at him with a grin.

“Promise me something?”

“Anything.”

“No distractions. No drama. Just you and me. Salt water, sunburns, and something real.

Dalen reached for her hand.

“It’s already real, Brit. We’re just finally saying it out loud.”

To Be Continued…

Would you like the next chapter to take place on the flight to Jamaica, full of excitement and hidden nerves — or do we pick up as they arrive at the resort, and Brittany sees Shayla unexpectedly, setting off a chain reaction neither of them expected?
