He looked her in the eyes. No excuses. No lies.

“So what now?” he asked. “Do I lose you too?”
Amber’s voice was calm — but final.

She walked to the door, opened it.
“When you’re ready to stop feeling sorry for Shayla… and start fighting for yourself — maybe then we can talk.”
He hesitated… then walked out.
