“I’m Tired, Piarry…” – Anthony Finally Breaks His Silence
Anthony tells Piarry he’s really getting tired of Shayla!
It was nearly midnight when Anthony pulled up outside Piarry’s place. His truck headlights lit up the driveway briefly before he cut the engine and stepped out into the quiet night. The city around him had settled down, but the storm in his chest refused to calm.
He didn’t call or text—he just showed up. And somehow, Piarry was already waiting at the door, wrapped in her oversized cardigan, sipping from a mug of herbal tea.
“You look like you’ve been driving with your thoughts instead of your hands,” she said softly, letting him in.
Anthony exhaled, shaking his head. “I couldn’t be at that house another minute. I needed to see you.”
He collapsed on the couch, hands running over his face, rubbing the weight of weeks off his skin.
“What’s going on?” Piarry asked, sitting beside him. “Talk to me.”
Anthony looked at her. Really looked. Her face, calm and open. No judgment. No fake concern. Just realness. And that’s when it spilled out.
The Cracks in the Foundation
“I’m tired, Piarry. Of her. Of the constant tension. The walking on eggshells. Every time I walk in the door, I brace myself—because I don’t know what Shayla I’m going to get.”
Piarry listened quietly, never interrupting, letting Anthony pour his soul out.
“It’s always something. If I work too late, I’m hiding something. If I take a phone call, she wants to know who it is. If I so much as mention Amber’s name—even in reference to Kai—she goes off.”
He leaned back, staring at the ceiling.
“It’s like I don’t even know who she is anymore. Or maybe… I never did.”
Piarry Speaks the Truth
Piarry looked at him carefully. “So what are you going to do? Just keep pretending? Or finally admit to yourself that you’ve checked out?”
Anthony swallowed hard. He hated how true her words were. “I’ve tried, P. I tried because we have Kai. Because I thought that was the right thing. I tried to make it work even after everything she did—lying about Mike, the DNA stuff, twisting stories…”
His voice cracked a little. “But I’m not happy. And I haven’t been for a long time.”
Piarry nodded slowly, placing her tea down.
“You deserve peace, Anthony. Not just responsibility. Not guilt. Peace. Love should never feel like a prison.”
The Whisper Between Them
The room went quiet. For a long moment, they just sat there.
Then Anthony turned to her, his eyes searching hers.
“Can I be honest about something else?”
She tilted her head. “You always can.”
“Being around you… it reminds me of who I used to be. Before all the drama. Before the lies. Before I felt like I was just surviving instead of living.”
Piarry didn’t say a word. She didn’t have to. Her eyes said it all—understanding, care, and maybe… something more.
The Turning Point
Anthony stood up, pacing slowly, running his hand along the back of his neck.
“I haven’t told Shayla yet. But I think I’m done. I think I need out.”
Piarry stood too, gently placing her hand on his arm. “Then you need to say it. Not for her sake. For yours.”
He looked down at her hand on his sleeve, then back into her eyes.
“I just hope I’m not too far gone to get my life back.”
“You’re not,” she whispered. “But you have to choose. Not just leave… but move forward.”
To Be Continued…
As the clock ticked past midnight, Anthony knew what he had to do.
No more excuses.
No more pretending.
The first step to healing was being honest—with Shayla, with Kai, with himself.
And maybe, just maybe… with Piarry.
