The Truth Always Comes Out

Will Amber ever find out that Shayla told on her? 🤔

Amber always knew something felt off.

The way people had been looking at her differently. The way her name kept coming up in conversations she wasn’t even a part of. And the way Anthony, of all people, suddenly seemed so damn smug whenever he spoke to her.

She didn’t have proof—not yet—but deep down, she could feel it.

Someone had been running their mouth.

And when she finally found out who?

It was going to be war.

The First Clue

Amber was sitting at a small café when Angelina slid into the seat across from her.

"You okay?" Angelina asked, stirring her drink.

Amber raised an eyebrow. "Why wouldn’t I be?"

Angelina hesitated. That was the first red flag.

She never hesitated.

"Amber…" Angelina sighed. "I think you should know—people have been talking about you. A lot."

Amber crossed her arms.

"What else is new?"

"No, I mean—like, they know stuff. Stuff they shouldn’t know."

That made Amber sit up a little straighter.

"Like what?"

Angelina gave her a look, like she was debating whether or not to say it.

Then, finally, she leaned in and said three words that made Amber’s stomach drop:

"Shayla told them."

The Betrayal

Amber went still.

Shayla?

Shayla was the one who told on her?

Of all people?

"Nah," Amber said, shaking her head. "That don’t even make sense. Why would she do that?"

Angelina exhaled. "Because she was mad. Because she was hurt. And because she wanted to make sure that if she was going down… you were going down with her."

Amber’s hands curled into fists.

Because now—it made sense.

All the whispers. All the side-eyes. The way Anthony had been real bold lately, talking like he knew something she didn’t.

It had been Shayla the whole time.

The Confrontation

Amber wasn’t about to let this slide.

She showed up at Shayla’s apartment that night.

No warning. No text. Just straight to business.

When Shayla opened the door and saw Amber standing there, her face dropped.

"Amber…" Shayla started.

Amber didn’t give her a chance.

"So, you just out here telling all my business now?" Amber’s voice was calm, but her eyes were sharp.

Shayla stepped back, folding her arms. "I don’t know what you’re talking about."

Amber laughed. A cold, humorless laugh.

"Girl, don’t even try it. I know it was you."

Shayla sighed, rubbing her forehead.

"Look, I didn’t mean for it to get out like that, okay? I was just—"

"You was just what?" Amber snapped. "Running your mouth? Being messy? You know damn well this wasn’t your business to tell."

Shayla exhaled, looking guilty now.

"I was mad, Amber. You know what Anthony put me through. You know what you put me through. I wasn’t thinking."

"Oh, you was thinking," Amber shot back. "You was thinking about getting back at me. And don’t even try to act like you wasn’t."

Shayla stayed silent.

Because Amber was right.

The Fallout

Amber shook her head, stepping back.

"You know what?" she muttered. "I should’ve known better. I should’ve known you wasn’t built for loyalty."

Shayla’s eyes flashed. "That’s rich, coming from you."

Amber tilted her head. "Yeah? But here’s the difference—I don’t pretend to be something I’m not. You, on the other hand? You fake, Shayla. You been fake."

Shayla’s jaw clenched.

"I didn’t mean for it to go down like this, Amber."

"Yeah, well… it did."

And with that, Amber turned and walked away.

She wasn’t about to waste another second on someone who never had her back to begin with.

Because if there was one thing Amber knew for sure—

The truth always comes out.

And when it does?

You find out real quick who was really for you… and who was just waiting to betray you.

To Be Continued…?
