Shayla’s secret could destroy Anthony’s life forever.
"The Secret That Could Ruin Everything"
The night was thick with tension, the air heavy with an impending storm—both outside and in Amber’s chest. She sat on her couch, gripping Anthony’s letter, her mind racing with unanswered questions.
Anthony was gone.
And now, Shayla—the woman who had always lurked in the shadows of his past—was holding onto something that could destroy his life forever.
Amber didn’t know what the secret was.
But she was damn sure going to find out.
The Warning
Amber’s phone buzzed on the coffee table. She glanced at the screen.
Unknown Number.
Her stomach twisted, but she answered anyway.
"Hello?"
A moment of silence. Then, a familiar voice—low, almost taunting.
"Amber. We need to talk."
Amber’s blood ran cold. "Shayla?"
A soft chuckle. "Took you long enough to pick up."
Amber sat up straighter, gripping the phone tighter. "What do you want?"
Shayla sighed. "I think the real question is… what do you want? Because I have something you might be interested in."
Amber’s pulse quickened. "I’m not playing games with you, Shayla."
"Good," Shayla said. "Because neither am I. Meet me at Magnolia Café in an hour. Alone."
The line went dead.
Amber stared at her phone, her heart hammering in her chest.
Whatever this was, it wasn’t going to be good.
The Secret
Amber arrived at the café, spotting Shayla instantly. She sat near the window, a black trench coat draped over her chair, her manicured nails tapping against a coffee cup.
Amber approached cautiously, pulling out the chair across from her.
"Talk," she said, crossing her arms.
Shayla smirked, tilting her head. "You always did have fire in you."
Amber clenched her jaw. "I don’t have time for this. What do you know?"
Shayla took a slow sip of her coffee before leaning in, her eyes gleaming with something dangerous.
"It’s about Anthony," she said.
Amber stiffened. "I figured."
Shayla chuckled. "Oh, sweetheart… you have no idea what you’re dealing with."
Amber’s patience snapped. "Enough with the cryptic nonsense! Just say it!"
Shayla’s smirk faded. She pulled out a folded piece of paper from her coat pocket and slid it across the table.
Amber hesitated before picking it up, unfolding it with shaky fingers.
Her heart stopped.
It was a birth certificate.
But not for her baby.
It was for another baby.
One that had been born years ago.
Father’s name: Anthony Carter.
Amber’s breath hitched. "No…"
Shayla leaned back, watching the panic wash over her. "Oh, yes."
Amber’s head was spinning. "Anthony has another child?"
Shayla nodded. "And he’s spent years hiding it. But here’s the real kicker…" She leaned in, her voice dropping to a whisper.
"He doesn’t know."
Amber’s mind reeled. "What?"
Shayla tapped the paper. "He has no idea this kid exists. And if he finds out? It will destroy him."
Amber’s hands trembled as she clutched the birth certificate.
This wasn’t just a mistake. This wasn’t just another betrayal.
This was life-altering.
Anthony had a child out there.
And Shayla had been keeping it a secret all this time.
The Fallout
Amber shot up from her chair, her breath uneven.
"Why are you telling me this now?" she demanded.
Shayla sighed, playing with her spoon. "Because Anthony’s running. And once he finds out the truth… he might never stop."
Amber’s chest tightened. "He deserves to know."
Shayla shrugged. "Maybe. But that’s up to you now, isn’t it?"
Amber stared at the birth certificate, the weight of it crushing her.
Anthony had already lost so much.
But was he ready to lose himself?
To Be Continued…?
Does Amber tell Anthony the truth? Or does she protect him from the secret that could destroy him? Let me know! 🔥👀💔
