ANTHONY finds out that kai is not his own baby
A Father’s Betrayal: Anthony’s Heartbreaking Truth
Anthony sat on the edge of the bed, staring at the DNA test results in his trembling hands. His breath came in short, sharp bursts as he read the words over and over again, hoping that maybe—just maybe—he had misread them.
"Probability of paternity: 0%"
His heart pounded in his chest. His hands tightened into fists, crumpling the paper slightly as a cold, bitter realization settled in.
Kai… his son—his only son—wasn’t his.
The world around him blurred. The laughter of the baby in the next room suddenly felt distant, foreign. How could this be happening? He had been there since day one, holding Kai in his arms, feeding him at night, rocking him to sleep when he cried. How could he not be his father?
And worse—if he wasn’t Kai’s father, then who was?
The Beginning of Doubt
The doubts had started small, creeping into Anthony’s mind like shadows in the dark. At first, it was little comments from his family.
"He doesn’t look like you at all, Tony."
"Are you sure he’s yours? He’s got different eyes, different skin tone."
Anthony had brushed it off. People said all kinds of things. Babies changed as they grew. But as the months passed, he started noticing things himself. The way Kai’s features didn’t resemble his. The way his curly hair was lighter than Anthony’s dark waves.
Still, he ignored it—until one night.
Anthony had been rocking Kai to sleep when his girlfriend, Vanessa, got a call. It was late, and she had walked out of the room to answer it, whispering urgently. Something about her body language felt off. Suspicious.
His stomach twisted.
That night, while Vanessa slept, Anthony took a strand of Kai’s hair and sent it for a paternity test. He didn’t tell anyone. He didn’t want to know the answer. But something deep inside him screamed for the truth.
And now he had it.
Confrontation
Vanessa walked into the bedroom, holding a bottle of water. "Hey, babe. What’s wrong? You look pale."
Anthony slowly lifted his gaze, his eyes dark with pain. He held up the crumpled paper.
"This," he said hoarsely.
Vanessa’s face immediately drained of color. "W-what’s that?"
"A DNA test," he spat, his voice shaking with rage. "I’m not Kai’s father, am I?"
She took a step back, gripping the edge of the dresser. "Anthony, I—"
"Don’t lie to me!" His voice thundered through the room. "Who is he? Who’s his real father?"
Tears welled in Vanessa’s eyes, but Anthony could see it now—the guilt, the shame. She had known all along.
"Please," she whispered. "Let’s talk about this."
Anthony laughed bitterly. "Talk? Talk?! Vanessa, I have been raising this child—loving this child—thinking he was mine! Do you have any idea what you’ve done to me?"
She covered her mouth, sobbing. "I didn’t mean for it to happen. It was a mistake. I was drunk. It was before I knew I was pregnant—"
Anthony’s heart clenched. "Who is he?" he demanded.
Vanessa hesitated.
"WHO?!"
She looked away, fresh tears rolling down her cheeks. "…Jason."
The name hit him like a fist to the gut. Jason. His best friend. His brother.
Betrayal Runs Deep
Anthony felt like the walls were closing in on him. Jason—the one person he trusted the most. The one person who had been by his side through everything.
And now? Now, he was the father of the child Anthony had been raising as his own.
"You…" Anthony shook his head, his voice breaking. "You and Jason?"
"It was a mistake!" Vanessa sobbed. "We didn’t mean to hurt you, Anthony. I swear!"
Anthony’s jaw clenched. His body shook with rage, betrayal, heartbreak. He wanted to punch something—to scream, to break down—but Kai’s laughter suddenly filled the air again from the other room.
Kai.
The little boy he had bathed, fed, held in his arms, loved with all his heart.
The little boy who wasn’t his.
His chest ached with the weight of it. His whole life had been a lie.
But then something strange happened. He thought about leaving, about walking out that door and never looking back. But when he closed his eyes, all he could see was Kai’s tiny hands gripping his fingers. All he could hear was the sound of Kai calling him "Dada."
Did biology change that? Did this betrayal erase everything they had built?
His fists loosened. His rage turned into something heavier.
Vanessa reached for him, but he stepped back. "I don’t want to hear your excuses." His voice was cold, empty. "You lied to me. You took away my choice."
"Anthony, please—"
"I need time," he whispered.
Without another word, he turned and walked out.
What Comes Next?
Anthony sat in his car for hours, staring at the city lights, his mind racing. He had two choices: walk away and never look back, or fight for the only son he had ever known, even if he wasn’t his by blood.
The anger, the betrayal, the heartbreak—it was all too much. But when he thought about Kai, his heart softened.
Maybe he wasn’t his by DNA. But in every other way, Kai was his.
The question was… could Anthony forgive? Could he bear to raise another man’s child, knowing the truth?
And most of all… could he ever look at Jason and Vanessa the same way again?
One thing was certain—nothing would ever be the same.
