Anthony disappeared, but Amber knows the truth.

Anthony disappeared, but Amber knows the truth.

"Gone, But Not Forgotten"

Amber stood in front of the window, staring out at the empty street. The city lights flickered in the distance, casting long shadows across the apartment floor. The air felt heavy, suffocating, like a storm was brewing inside her chest.

Anthony was gone.

No goodbye. No explanation. Just… gone.

And yet—she knew the truth.

The Disappearance

It had been a week since Anthony vanished. His apartment was empty. His phone went straight to voicemail. No one had seen or heard from him.

At first, Amber thought it was just one of his usual stunts—one of those dramatic, guilt-ridden episodes where he’d disappear for a couple of days, drown himself in whiskey, then come crawling back with weak apologies and broken promises.

But this time… something was different.

This time, he wasn’t coming back.

Amber could feel it in her bones.

The last time she saw him, he looked wrecked—his eyes hollow, his shoulders slumped as if the weight of everything he had done was finally crushing him. Wayne had told him to let her go, and for the first time in Anthony’s life, he actually listened.

But Amber knew better.

She knew Anthony.

She knew this wasn’t just about her.

Something else was going on.

And she was determined to find out what.

The Truth Unfolds

Amber sat on the couch, phone in hand, scrolling through old texts.

Anthony: I know I don’t deserve you. I know I ruined everything.
Anthony: I just want you to be happy, even if it’s not with me.
Anthony: If I disappear… just know I never stopped loving you.

Her heart clenched as she read the words over and over again.

He had been preparing for this. He knew he was going to leave.

But why?

She closed her eyes, trying to piece everything together.

And then—like a flash of lightning—it hit her.

Anthony wasn’t just running from her.

He was running from his past.

From his secrets.

From the things he never wanted her to know.

The Letter

Two days later, Amber found an envelope wedged under her apartment door.

No name. No return address. Just her.

Her fingers trembled as she ripped it open.

Inside was a single piece of paper, covered in Anthony’s familiar handwriting.

Amber,

If you’re reading this, I’m already gone. I don’t know where I’m going yet, but I know I can’t stay.

You always thought I left because of what I did to you. And I did. But that’s not the whole story.

Amber’s heart pounded as she read.

I’ve been lying to you about more than just my mistakes. I thought I could bury my past, but the truth always catches up. And now it’s here.

I need you to be safe. I need you to take care of our child. But most of all, I need you to understand… I didn’t leave because I stopped loving you. I left because I had no other choice.

I hope one day, you’ll forgive me.

- Anthony

Amber’s hands shook as she clutched the letter to her chest.

Her breath came in short, panicked gasps.

She wasn’t crazy. She knew there was more to the story.

And now?

Now she had to find out exactly what Anthony was running from.

Because something told her…

This wasn’t over.

Not by a long shot.

To Be Continued…?
