Amber is not only going through it but she’s pregnant.
His the reason for the extreme mood swings, exhaustion and anxiety. 🤷🏽♀️
"The Weight of Betrayal"
Amber sat in her car, gripping the steering wheel so tightly her knuckles turned white. She had been parked outside her apartment for nearly twenty minutes, trying to summon the courage to go inside.
Trying to decide whether or not to tell Anthony the truth.
Her stomach churned, a nauseating mix of heartbreak, rage, and something much deeper—something she hadn’t been able to process fully.
She was pregnant.
And the worst part? The worst part?
Anthony was the reason for everything—her exhaustion, her mood swings, the sudden waves of anxiety that had taken over her life. And all this time, she had been thinking she was just stressed. Thinking she was just losing herself because of the betrayal.
But no.
She was carrying his child.
The Test That Changed Everything
It had been two days since she walked out on Anthony. Two days of endless crying, of tossing and turning in an empty bed, of replaying his lies over and over in her head.
She had been feeling off for weeks—snapping at people, struggling to keep her emotions in check, feeling utterly drained even after a full night's sleep. But after she left him, it all escalated.
The dizziness. The nausea. The overwhelming fatigue.
At first, she thought it was just stress. Heartbreak had a way of draining a person. But then… she missed her period.
And then another week passed.
That’s when she knew something wasn’t right.
Sitting alone in her tiny hotel room, she stared at the pregnancy test in her shaking hands.
Two pink lines.
Her whole world stopped.
She had gasped, nearly dropping the test, her heartbeat thundering in her ears. "No. No, no, no…"
This couldn’t be happening. Not now. Not with him.
But it was.
And now, she was sitting outside their—his—apartment, debating whether she should tell him.
The Confrontation
Taking a deep breath, Amber pushed open the car door and made her way up to the apartment. Her stomach twisted with nerves as she knocked on the door.
It took a few moments, but eventually, the door swung open, revealing Anthony standing there in a pair of sweatpants and a wrinkled t-shirt. He looked like hell—dark circles under his eyes, hair disheveled, the smell of whiskey lingering faintly in the air.
His eyes widened when he saw her. "Amber…?"
She crossed her arms, trying to steel herself against the pain that surged through her just looking at him. "We need to talk."
Anthony swallowed hard and stepped aside, letting her in. She hesitated before walking past him, the familiarity of their home—his home now—making her chest tighten.
She turned to face him. "I don’t want to be here longer than I have to, so I’ll get straight to the point."
Anthony nodded, his jaw clenching. "Okay."
Amber took a deep breath. "I’m pregnant."
The words hung in the air between them, suffocating and heavy.
Anthony’s face went blank. "What?"
"I said," she repeated, voice firmer this time, "I’m pregnant."
Anthony blinked, as if his brain was still trying to process the information. His mouth opened, then closed, then opened again. "Are you… sure?"
Amber let out a humorless laugh, shaking her head. "No, Anthony, I just came over to guess with you. Of course, I’m sure."
He ran a hand down his face, exhaling sharply. "Jesus Christ…"
She watched as he took a few steps back, his breathing uneven. For a brief second, she saw something flash across his face—fear, maybe? Regret? But she didn’t care.
Because nothing he felt could compare to what she had been going through.
Amber narrowed her eyes. "I bet now you wanna talk about ‘handling things maturely,’ huh?"
Anthony’s gaze snapped to hers, guilt pooling in his eyes. "Amber, I—"
She cut him off. "Don’t."
She felt the tears burning, but she refused to let them fall.
"I’ve been carrying your child while dealing with the worst betrayal of my life," she continued. "I’ve been crying myself to sleep, waking up exhausted, barely functioning, and now I find out the reason why?"
Anthony rubbed his face again, pacing in front of her. "I don’t even know what to say…"
Amber scoffed. "Oh, that’s a first. You seemed to have plenty to say when you were out here playing house with another woman."
Anthony stopped pacing, turning to her with pained eyes. "Amber, I never stopped loving you."
She froze.
For a second, the words made her stomach drop—but not in the way they used to. Not in the butterflies-in-her-chest kind of way. No, this was different.
This was rage.
"You don’t get to say that," she snapped, her voice trembling. "You don’t get to claim you loved me while you were out creating a whole separate life behind my back!"
Anthony shook his head, stepping closer. "Amber, I swear, the baby with her—it was a mistake. A terrible, selfish mistake, and I regret it every single day."
Amber took a step back. "Well, congratulations, Anthony. Now you’ve got two mistakes to deal with."
His face fell. "Amber…"
She put a hand up. "No. I need to think. I need to figure out what the hell I’m gonna do. But one thing I won’t do?" She took a shaky breath. "I won’t let you treat this child the way you treated me. Lying, sneaking around, doing whatever suits you while I suffer for it."
Anthony’s jaw tightened. "I would never abandon my kid."
Amber laughed bitterly. "Oh? Like how you abandoned me emotionally? How you let me think we were building a future while you were making one with someone else?"
He opened his mouth to argue, but she shook her head.
"I don’t wanna hear it," she whispered. "I’m exhausted, Anthony. Physically. Emotionally. I don’t have the energy to fight with you anymore."
Anthony’s face softened. "Amber, please don’t shut me out."
Amber swallowed the lump in her throat. "You shut me out first."
And with that, she turned and walked away.
This time, Anthony didn’t try to stop her.
Because deep down, he knew…
He had lost her.
But this time, he hadn’t just lost a woman.
He had lost the mother of his child.
To Be Continued…?
Does Amber let Anthony back in? Does she choose to raise the baby alone? Or does someone new step into her life? Let me know! 👀🔥
